May 2017 May Fayre in Aid of Time for Tilara Very Well Supported
by ALAN SHEEHAN & ANDREA CUNNINGHAM
The May Fayre and Fam- ily Fun Day in aid of Time for Tilara was a huge success last Sunday, 14 May raising almost €4,000. The May Fayre
took
place at the Paddocks Holi- day Village in Midleton and saw a large attendance turn
out Tilara
to support Midleton’s Costa-Holmes and
enjoy a multitude of activ- ities, musical performances and more. The event raised approximately
€3,834 to-
wards the costs of serious spinal surgery and rehabili- tation for Tilara. “We had our May Fayre
on Sunday,” said Noel Mc- Donagh, a member of the Time for Tilara fundraising
committee. “Thankfully the weather held off for it and we had a very good attend- ance. It was very successful. We had a fantastic family fun day and we’d like to give a word of thanks to all those who supported the event, all of our sponsors and a special word of thanks to Eileen Kearney for all her hard work in organising the event. Once again the peo-
ple of East Cork have shown that they have taken Tilara to their hearts.” The Fayre featured per-
formances by Midleton Concert Band, Pirate Pete, Tony Baloney, magician Paul Dee, DJ James O’Do- novan and Aaron the Bal- loon Man, while Midleton Rugby Club emerged vic- torious in the tug of war. Among the
other many
games available on the day was the dunk tank, the vol- unteers for which included Fine Gael Councillor Susan McCarthy, Midleton Fire Brigade’s Dougie
Laffan,
Kayden Costa Holmes, Kyle Reed, Dylan Gunn, Conor Lehane, Luke O’Farrell and radio presenter Jason ‘Jay’ Coughlan. In the evening following the May Fayre Garryvoe
Hotel hosted a performance by Cor Cois Farraige, a choral group based in Bal- lycotton, in aid of Time for Tilara. On behalf of the committee Mr McDonagh extended his thanks to the choir and to Nora Smiddy for choosing Time for Tilara as their charity for the show. Time for Tilara is a trust
set up to raise €140,000 to cover the costs of selective
dorsal rhizotomy (SDR)
surgery and post-operative rehabilitation for six-year- old Tilara who suffers from spastic diplegia cerebral pal- sy, a condition which causes chronic pain. The trust has so far reached its halfway mark. More information can be
