May

ALL ARE WEL- COME! Lower Aghada Ten- nis and Sailing Club was founded in 1917 making this year the 100 Year An- niversary! We would like to wel-

come the community to help celebrate this occa- sion on 28th

May from

2pm to 5pm. There will be lots of

activities for all ages with plenty of opportunities to try out a bit of tennis. The kids will be kept enter- tained by the coaches (and perhaps some surprise guest players) on court and by our entertainers in the club house with face- painting, balloons and nail painting. Adults are invit- ed to try out some tennis or perhaps some cardio tennis for those who are feeling very energetic! We will have our top players on court showing us what we can aspire to. You will get to see our

beautifully renovated club house and meet club members and coaches. Strawberries and

cream, teas and coffees are all provided to whet your appetite and weather permitting, the BBQ will be lighting. Last year everybody had

so much fun and this year promises to be even better! Come and join us for

an afternoon of fun for all ages.

East Cork Junior Open

sponsored by Cork City Ford Centre was held at the club from May 7th May 14th

to .

We are very grateful to our new sponsors John- ny and Ann Marie No- lan from Cork City Ford Centre for their support. Without sponsors the club could not host such suc- cessful events so we really appreciated it when they came on board. Our thanks to all the

competitors, their parents and coaches for ensuring such a great week of sport. We were honoured to

have Club President Billy Flynn and President

of

Tennis Ireland Cliff Car- roll at the club today for prize giving. Tournament

director

Aine Dunne, Club Chair- man Brendan Kirrane and

Junior committee

members Vin Barry and Ger Sheehan put in many hours at the club this week and their hard work paid off. The tournament was a resounding success. Thanks also to Andrew Jaworska who was tourna- ment referee with Ger. Thanks to everybody

who helped in the kitchen. The future of the club is secure judging by the hard work some of the kids were willing to put in. Congratulations to all

of our own players who played this week. We were delighted to see so many taking part and particular- ly to see so many still play- ing today in the semis and the finals. Gavin Kirrane,
