JTAG: Hardware for PCB Test and In-System Programming


Easton, MD — JTAG’s latest products demonstrate the company’s focus on “fixture embedded” test technology. The JT 5705/FXT multi-function JTAG tester is a compact, single-board test system that supports analog measurement and stimulus, fre- quency measurements, digital I/O, boundary-scan testing, and also in-system device programming. Within the fixture, multiple tester cards can be mounted on specialized carriers with ATE indus- try-standard Pylon connectors, making test system build easy. One example of how the company embeds its


testers can be found in the JTAG tester built into one of the small linear series of cassette-based reconfigurable fixtures of Everett Charles Technologies, a well-known name in the field of PCB test fixtures and interfaces. Many new electronic designs


contain devices such as programma- ble logic and micro controllers/SOCs that use JTAG’s built-in test capabil- ities, however, due to the mixed sig- nal nature of most of these designs, it is useful to have a mix of test signals to provide analog stimuli and meas- urement, and digital I/O channels.
