Dresden, Germany — InfraTec has introduced its VarioCAM™ HD camera head based on the latest- generation of uncooled microbolometer FPA detec- tors. With resolutions of up to 1,024 x 768 IR pix- els, the camera delivers brilliant 16-bit thermo- graphic images. Due to its opto-mechanical MicroScan unit, it
provides IR image formats of 3.1 MP. The technolo- gy measures the thermal radiation that strikes a ro- tating germanium disc and is subsequently deflected through the disc’s precisely governed tumbling pat- tern. As a result, the measured object is depicted thermally without any gap, corresponding to a fill factor of 100 percent. The geometric resolution of the camera rises to 2,048 x 1,536 IR pixels, representing genuine temperature measurement values. The VarioCAM HD head provides image
sharpness and better reproduction quality than purely software-based systems, which only pro- duce interpolated image points.

ant, light metal housing that keeps out dust, dirt and water to IP67 standard, if necessary. Extreme- ly adaptable, the camera uses GigE Vision and GenICam, which are industry-wide standards for data transfer and image processing. Through its partnership with Jenoptik, In-
fraTec is able to offer a wide variety of high-quali- ty optics for the VarioCAM HD head. Users can record tiny structures of down to 17 µm with a mi- croscope feature. Other additional components in-
