September, 2016 Pittman Develops Compact Encoders for OEMs

Harleysville, PA — Pittman Motors, a part of the AMETEK Precision Motion Control division of AMETEK, Inc., has developed a family of 21 mm (0.83 in.) optical incremental en - coders to satisfy the demands of vol- ume OEM precision motion control applications. The E21 family is a huge improvement over its predeces- sor with a 40 percent lower profile, multi-channel outputs and options that yield up to 32 times the resolu- tion and up to 24 times the frequen- cy response. Creative packaging also makes the family an economical drop-in replacement for encoders from other providers. The E21C and E21D encoders

are 5V, two- and three-channel optical encoders available in many different configurations. The modular encoder package comes in a compact 21 x 8 mm (0.83 x 0.31 in.) size with alter- nate mounting

arrangements.

Connections are available in a locking radial or optional axial connector in

addition to standard radial. The E21C and E21D encoders operate from –20 to +85°C and weigh only 2.5g. The E21C encoder has resolu-

tions of 120, 125, 128, 200, 250, 256, 300, and 360 CPR. It outputs two- channel quadrature signals that are TTL-compatible and available with optional complimentary channels.

Operating frequency is 40 kHz (100 to 360 CPR). The E21D has resolutions of

500, 512, 1,000, 1,024, 1,600, 2,000, 2,048, 3,200, 4,000, 4,096, 6,400, 8,000, or 8,192 CPR. It outputs two- channel quadrature signals that are TTL-compatible with an optional third channel

Complementary outputs are also available. Operating frequency is from 55 to 960 kHz depending on the resolution. The E21C and E21D encoders

Socomec Offers Range of Load Break Switches

Cambridge, MA — Socomec has intro- duced its Inosys LBS line of load break switches. The new switches have an integrated tripping function that allows remote emergency switch- ing, which places them midway between a traditional disconnector and a non-automatic circuit breaker. The switches offer high-perform-

Completely independent from the power poles, the switches cannot be accidentally tripped. Carrying the CE mark and complying with UL98, IC 60947-3 and CCC standards, the switches are a global, multi-standard solution. The
