Piotr Nowaczyk is a partner of Salans and an ex-judge. He is an advocate admitted in Poland and France, an arbitrator, a president of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce (2006-2009), a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London, a member of the Swiss Arbitration

Association and the Deutsche Institution für

Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit, a WIPO expert and a FIDIC independent consultant, and has been an arbitrator with more than 30 major arbitral institutions worldwide. Mr Nowaczyk has more than 30 years’ experience in courtrooms and major arbitral institutions. He is a Polish member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

He was educated at the University of Poznań (LLM, 1976) and was a judge in the Polish courts from 1978 to 1981. He

joined the Polish Bar in Poznań in 1984, became a member of the Canadian Bar Association in 1992 and was admitted to the

French Bar in Paris in 1993 and the Polish Bar in Warsaw in 1994. He has built up from scratch the litigation and arbitration department in Salans’ Warsaw office, dealing with international arbitration, trans-border litigation and IP law. He has acted as counsel or arbitrator in more than 100 arbitral proceedings, under the rules of the AAA-ICDR, CACI, CAS, CCIR, FIDIC, HCCI, ICAC, ICANN, ICC, IHK, LME, NAF, PCC, Swiss Rules, VIAC, WIPO, UNCITRAL and other ad hoc arbitration institutions. His main areas of practice include intellectual property, construction, investment, natural resources, banking, military industry, energy and joint ventures. Mr Nowaczyk has published numerous articles on court and arbitration proceedings and has spoken at many international conferences. He also teaches international arbitration at the Polish Bar.

He speaks Polish, English, French, German, Russian and Italian.
