Fred Bennett has over 30 years’ experience as an advocate and arbitrator in international and domestic arbitration. He is the head of the arbitration practice at Quinn Emanuel, the largest business litigation specialty firm in the United States, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo and Mannheim, Germany. He was also a senior partner and head of the worldwide alternative dispute resolution group at his former firm, Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher. Mr Bennett has arbitrated, internationally and domestically, disputes in almost every area of business endeavour, including complex IP disputes; construction and engineering disputes; partnership and distributorship disputes; general commercial disputes; oil and gas disputes; satellite technology and aerospace disputes; and insurance coverage disputes. He serves on the Large Complex Case Panels of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and on the international panel of the AAA’s International Center for Dispute Resolution. He is chairman of the AAA’s continuing education programme for Large, Complex Case Panel arbitrators in Southern California. Mr Bennett also serves as an International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitrator, and for years was a member of the ICC National Committee for the United States and chairman of its West Coast Subcommittee. He presently serves on the AAA’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Mr Bennett frequently lectures on arbitration and has

authored numerous publications in the arbitration field. He is

co-editor of Redfern and Hunter on Arbitration (5th ed), one

of the world’s leading arbitration treatises. He is also editor in chief of Arbitration Trends, the newsletter of Quinn Emanuel’s arbitration practice.

In 2008, Mr Bennett was chosen for inclusion in the Guide to

the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration by The

Legal Media Group, London. He has been recognized as one of the Outstanding Trial Lawyers of America by Chambers, USA.
