Andrew Iyer is head of the firm’s global energy and offshore group and specializes in commercial litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution, concentrating on energy, shipping, international trade and insurance law. He undertakes advocacy at interlocutory levels and before arbitration tribunals. Mr Iyer’s energy experience ranges from construction disputes to heavyweight litigation and arbitration involving drilling, onshore and offshore pipelines, refineries, floating production, storage and offloading units, power stations and oil and gas facilities, including renewables. He also handles all aspects of shipping and marine insurance, with a particular emphasis on casualty, protection and indemnity and freight, demurrage and defence matters, carriage of goods by sea and charterparty disputes, including all offshore-related contracts and incidents. His trade practice covers the full range of physical and futures legal work for commodities, including oil and coal. Mr Iyer has strong industry links with North America, Italy, Northern Europe and Nigeria (West Africa), as well as in the major oil and gas ‘patches’ around the world.
