Motivation is the drive that someone has to do or achieve something.
Types of motivation There are two types of motivation:
Intrinsic motivation comes from within. It is an ‘inner drive’. Examples include: • enjoyment of the sport or activity • a desire to maintain or improve fi tness • satisfaction in improving • enjoyment of the challenge • the feeling of achievement. Extrinsic motivation comes from external factors. Examples include: • beating someone else • being the best • winning a prize • earning money • acclaim from other people.
