Speed is important in any sport or activity where parts of the body, or equipment, need to be moved quickly.
For example, the speed of a hockey stick, a cricket bowler’s arm, or a sprinter's legs.
Speed can be important for some positions in team sports, for example wingers in football and backs in rugby.

Some fl exibility is important in almost all sports or activities. The fl exibility of diff erent joints is more important in some events than others. For example:
• gymnasts needs a large amount of fl exibility for many joints
• badminton players need good fl exibility in the wrist and shoulders
• high jumpers need fl exible joints in their back and neck.
