ShopGallery growth quickens with bricks and mortar convenience concept


Travellers to Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport in Argentina now have the opportunity to purchase travel must-haves at a new convenience store, Gate 7/24 Travel Market. As Luke Barras-Hill reports, this is just one in a package of developments for duty paid shopping chain ShopGallery.

ShopGallery’s ambition to propel its ‘virtual stores’ shopping concept to Argentina’s top 10 international airports. Under plans, outlets would


incorporate a function for customers to scan product barcodes, purchase and leave in a frictionless manner similar to Amazon Go. The appearance of these virtual


stores at departure gates in airports where ShopGallery possesses a physical store presence allows passengers to make last-minute purchases that they can then collect from designated ShopGallery e-lockers at arrival destinations. In turn, an app twins with the


e-lockers service to enable seamless browsing and purchasing. At present, travellers can find QR


code enabled ShopGallery airport locations at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, Bariloche, Mendoza, Río Hondo, Formosa, Paraná and Santiago del Estero. But alongside this moving concept,
