arrivals shops as possible, inform departing passengers of the arrivals duty free shopping opportunity and to optimise the arrivals product mix in accordance with the needs and demands of passengers. “All of this will help drive sales within


these limited spaces,” said Sagiev. “We also plan to launch a loyalty


programme to motivate passengers to shop on arrival.” Aside the arrivals duty free opportunity, RegStaer, is focusing on optimising


Hangzhou Airport to issue T4 tenders next year


With a growing airline network, rapidly increasing passenger capacity and support from China’s Hangzhou city and the Zhejiang province in which it sits, it looks promising that Hangzhou International Airport will attract leading retail operators and brands for its T4 duty free and duty paid tenders next year. The duty free outlets are likely to be


tendered under one contract as there are not so many companies vying for the business; a symptom of the law in China that does not permit foreign companies to operate duty free shops. China Duty Free Group already


operates outlets in Hangzhou’s existing terminals and David Jea, Deputy General


Manager for Hangzhou International Airport, intimates that they stand in a good position to expand their retail footprint into T4. However, in terms of the duty


paid operations, there are likely to be several tenders, breaking up the business into sections. [See p81 for the full report].

TR Sustainability Forum takes stand in Cannes


TRBusiness and sustainability partner Duty Free Innovation (DFI) are delighted to announce that the Travel Retail Sustainability Forum (TRSF) will be exhibiting at the TFWA Innovation Lab during the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes later this month (30 September until 4 October). The TRSF’s presence at the exhibition will


enable its two founding members to reach out to industry stakeholders for the first time in person since the Forum’s launch in July this year. The TRSF founders will be sharing the


Forum’s objectives, vision and mission and discussing how it will aim to develop and coordinate the industry’s drive for a more sustainable approach to business. The two companies launched the


initiative following discussions with key stakeholders in travel retail, which revealed both a strong will to move forward with an industry-wide sustainability strategy and the need for centralised coordination.
