Imperial Brands rings the changes at TR management level Imperial Brands has appointed Christian Münstermann (above) as General Manager, Global Duty Free and Export, replacing Jorge Arias who becomes Cluster General Manager, Central Europe and Ukraine. Münstermann’s appointment is one
of several changes in the company’s travel retail division designed to stimulate future growth. He joined Imperial Brands in 2012 and
took on the role of Global Duty Free, Trade Marketing Director. In recent years, he has held the position
of Sales and Marketing Director and has played a prominent role in driving forward the Global Duty Free & Export business strategy. Giannos Zompolas, previously Finance
Manager for the Middle East region for Imperial Brands’ duty free business, replaces Andy Heley in the position of Head of Finance, Global Duty Free & Export. Based in Madrid, the new management
team will drive and accelerate the defined strategy for the Global Duty Free & Export business. The new appointments bolster a team that
includes Tobias Baude, Head of Corporate and Legal Affairs Global Duty Free & Export.
Manishi Sanwal leaves Flemingo; Thimmayya is duty free CEO P.K. Thimmayya (pictured centre top) has been named as the new CEO of Flemingo Travel Retail. In a corresponding announcement,
CEO Manishi Sanwal has left the company to start his own business in the field of data analytics. Since joining Flemingo around seven

years ago, Sanwal has successfully led Flemingo Travel Retail Ltd (formerly DFS India PVT. Ltd) in the Indian Sub-Continent and was responsible for establishing Mumbai Duty Free in the new Terminal 2 at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. His new company Voiceback Technologies,
in which he has a controlling stake, provides data analytics-based solutions to business problems. Based in Bangalore, the company
has a strong market research and analytics background, backed by experienced leadership and a team of data scientists and engineers. Atul Ahuja, Group CEO, Flemingo
International said: “Manishi has been a strong pillar of growth for Flemingo. In his tenure, he has given good growth, diversified into several new directions, fought challenging battles and kept team spirit high; I wish him all the very best for his future endeavours. “
P.K.Thimmayya joins us from within
the Flemingo group itself. He has been instrumental in establishing and developing the Colombo operations, which deliver one of the highest retail sales per square foot for Flemingo.”
Barrett and Lane appointments strengthen TRBusiness team TRBusiness is pleased to announce that Michael Barrett (pictured top right) and Nicky Lane (pictured right) have joined its expanding team in the fields of CSR and events and advertising and business development, respectively. Barrett brings a wealth of industry
experience and knowledge gleaned over many years of working with industry associations such as TFWA and APTRA and
TRBUSINESS 161
other trade media in running events and coordinating CSR. Based in Sydney, he will oversee
TRBusiness’ event and CSR programme and work alongside the team to manage the industry’s first and only consumer-voted Travel Retail Awards. Most recently, he worked at The Moodie
Davitt Report where he managed the 2018 Shanghai Trinity Forum and the 2019 FAB Conference & Awards in Dallas. He was also instrumental in ensuring the success of its recent ‘Duty Calls Charity Dinner’, which took place in Singapore in May and raised over US$250,000. Meanwhile, experienced media
professional Nicky Lane has joined the company in an advertising and business development role. Lane’s previous positions at director
