O O Ireland has a long tradition of producing high-quality crafts that are exported all over the world. Traditional crafts began to die out when the industrial revolution made it possible to mass-produce goods by machine, much more quickly and cheaply. Today, there is a renewed interest in crafts, as many tourists want to buy high-quality indigenous items to bring home with them.

OO The Design and Crafts Council of Ireland is the national agency for the commercial development of Irish designers and craftworkers. They encourage and stimulate innovation, and educate with their teaching resources. They help inform government policy and they are funded by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation via Enterprise Ireland.

OO This Classroom-Based Assessment is an individual project and will be completed by the end of year two. It will be assessed by the teacher.
