Exercise and fitness
Exercise is vital for good health. If you do not exercise, you will be unfit. Lack of fitness can lead to obesity, stress, heart disease and breathing difficulties.
The benefits of exercise • Improves fitness levels. • Keeps joints flexible and muscles toned. • Improves health and well-being. • Leads to more efficient heart and lungs, which reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
• Can lead to weight loss if combined with a healthy diet. • May reduce blood pressure. • Keeps the brain active and alert. • Can slow the ageing process down. • Team sports help people to increase in confidence and communicate better.
• Social activities can reduce loneliness and isolation for older people.
• Improves posture and balance. Stand tall and be confident!
Correct posture involves walking, standing or sitting tall and upright. It is an essential part of looking and feeling well. Slouching inhibits breathing and can affect your digestion. Even if you are healthy and fit, you will not look good unless you have good posture.
