Smoothies can be made with a wide variety of fruit and veg combined with milk, juice, yoghurt and enriched with oats, seeds and peanut butter. Experiment and see what you like!
Banana and peanut butter smoothie
Ingredients 1 banana
1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter ½ pint of skimmed milk Sprinkle of seeds
Method 1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and whizz until smooth. Ice can be added to make it thicker and colder, more like a slushie.
2. This makes an excellent lunch/snack drink, as it can be made in advance and put in a shaker.
Strawberry kiwi smoothie Ingredients
125 ml cold apple juice 1 ripe banana, sliced
Method 1. Blend as above. This will be thick and chilled.
1 kiwi, peeled and sliced 5 strawberries
1 dsp honey 6–8 ice cubes
Fruits of the forest smoothie Ingredients
¼ pint skimmed milk ¼ pint juice
Frozen berries (handful)
Method 1. Blend as above. This will be thick and chilled.
