Te deal follows agreements with Penn National Gaming, the largest regional gaming operator in North America, and JACK Entertainment, a leading gaming entertainment brand in Ohio. It recently completed multiple customer launches globally across retail and online, including seven casinos in the US and it took the first legal bet in New York and launched on the first day of regulation in Indiana and Iowa. Online or on-property launches recently took place across the states of New York, Iowa, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and West Virginia. Among those launches was Unibet, who made its US sports betting debut in New Jersey and then launched retail in Pennsylvania.
Kristian Nylén, Kambi Chief Executive Officer, said of the US market: “Although the speed of regulation is noteworthy, there is still a long way to go before the true shape of the US sports betting landscape becomes clear – the significant thing for a provider is having the scalability to meet differing market demands in an assured and secure manner. When considering regulatory requirements, differences between states don’t necessarily need to mean fundamental changes at the product level - just look at what we’ve seen in Pennsylvania so far, with the pricing offered on a par with those in the more favourably taxed New Jersey.
“I actually believe, over time, states’ regulatory demands may even become more relaxed,” he added. “By that I mean increasing numbers of states will follow more closely the example of New Jersey, which has a flourishing market due to its sensible regulation and taxation of both online and on-property. Many states that initially only permit on-property will, I feel, realise the benefits of online for a variety of reasons, including the greater protection of bettors."
