Greg Colella, Vice President of Product Management at Konami Gaming with the new All Aboard!

Konami raised the G2E stakes with the debut of its J-curve cabinet now targeting the premium sector

Te star of the Konami booth at G2E 2019 was the 49ins. J-curve cabinet, featuring a 49ins. curved monitor with a 4K Ultra HD platform and unique design. Greg Collela, the company's new VP of Product Management, spoke about how the premium product has set a high benchmark: "One of the things we especially wanted to do with this cabinet was build merchandising elements into and around the game, with the highest level of integration. Where the screen and cabinet ends is where the merchandising begins, seamlessly integrating everything with the signage for a truly premium experience.”

Step back from the 49ins. J-curve and the machine blends into the merchandising elements, including custom chairs and pod filler displays, creating a visually arresting backdrop for the latest game titles from Konami. Te cabinet is a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort, backed by a rich library of original titles. Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximise both player experience and operational results.

One of the first games from the new cabinet hails from the Konami Australia team. All Aboard, which has already proven itself Down Under, much to the delight of National Sales Manager for

NSW/ACT, David Punter, has been polished to a shine on the 49ins. J-curve. “We have retained the maths from the original title, taking the traditional dual screen game into the single curved 4K screen that delivers a compelling product for our customers," explained Mr. Colella.

In addition to All Aboard, visitors to G2E were the first to set eyes on the iconic Silent Hill, developed as a for-wager slot experience on the 49ins. J- curve cabinet. Tis dual series utilises scenes, sounds and characters from Konami’s recognised entertainment legacy, with Konami commercialising the brand into two distinct versions, with very different package options. “Merchandising is becoming more important as

trends towards larger format cabinets increase and we see more and more pods deployed on casino floors,” continued Mr Colella. “Organising slots into pods fixes two issues, whereby casinos in the US regularly have more physical floor space than they need, and the placement of games into side- by-side banks creates issues with infrequently played games within the middle section of these rows.”

Te increasing numbers of pods and large format cabinets on the Las Vegas Strip this year has helped operators tackle odd spaces on their floors, addressing line of sight issues, opening up the slots floor with variation of height and shapes, creating dynamic interest as opposed to uniform regimented lines of carbon-copy shapes. To this extent, Konami has really upped its game with a cabinet and complete merchandising package that fits current slots trend. Te 49 J-curve cabinet will be heading into casinos in the first quarter of 2020, alongside a glut of new games that represent a significant investment from Konami in games development.
