IGT turned G2E into a massive game-show with no less than four TV favorites hitting the stage alongside the new Peak range of cabinets

IGT launched a hugely stylish and important bartop cabinet, the PeakBarTop, at G2E 2019. Te new ‘bartender approved’ cabinet elevates the player experience with its 23ins. curved display, USB charging ports, enhanced lighting, audio and more.

IGT undertook all the regular R&D diligence throughout the creation of its PeakBarTop, talking to operators and players through extensive focus group testing. However, if you’re going to develop a bartop then you need to go one stage further...

“We undertook detailed and elaborate focus group testing with bartenders to understand what really matters to the people with first-hand experience of our bartop products,” explained Phil O'Shaughnessy, Vice President Global Communications, Trade Shows and Creative Services at IGT. “Te final polishing and modifications of the PeakBarTop came directly from bartender feedback, such as a convenient service light on the back of the monitor that indicates when a player needs service. In doing so, we’ve creating the most field-tested bartop ever.”

In the States, IGT enjoys a commanding share of the video poker market at over 90+ per cent, but this latest incarnation of the classic IGT bartop now enables operators to incorporate slot content and keno into the player offer. Te cabinet, which sits just 3.7ins. above the bartop in a silky curved form factor, is set to launch in the first part of 2020. In addition to the PeakBarTop, IGT introduced two additional Peak products, the Peak Slant 49ins. and the Peak Slant 49ins. with Wheel. Complementing IGT’s existing hardware line-up, these additional products include the new Scarab Link, a progressive built from the hugely popular Scarab game, one of IGT's proven performers. “Scarab has performed extremely well on floors across the US,” explained Mr. O'Shaughnessy. “We are seeking to replicate this success with a progressive link that rewards players with wilds that have a chance to win one of the linked prizes, adding to the excitement.”

Continuing the links theme, Wheel of Fortune Mystery Link is a Wheel of Fortune for all markets, types and style of operation. Housed within the impressive Peak Slant 49ins. with Wheel, the game offers something different from the wide area progressive that has defined the Wheel of Fortune offer from IGT. It is not linked to the usual million- dollar jackpot, offering instead the chance to win within the scope of the mystery link, appealing to a different type of player and operator. It's a standalone game within the Wheel of Fortune portfolio and has a built-in phone charger incorporated in the cabinet itself.

WheelMobile is in fact a physical mobile bus that tours the US as a celebratory event, taking the brand to cities around the country. Tere’s even a Wheel Watchers Club that enables casinos to partner with the WheelMobile to bring the Wheel of Fortune experience directly to its door.

Building on the success of Wheel of Fortune Cash Link, IGT debuted two new base games, including Ruby Riches and Shimmering Sapphires. In total, IGT brought four game-show themed products to the floor of G2E, with Te Price is Right Showcase Showdown building on the launch of the brand licence last year on the CrystalCurve Ultra cabinet, and Te Price is Right Plinko Slots on the Crystal- Dual+Stepper. Te MegaTower cabinet was home to the game-show classic, £25,000 Pyramid, while the star of a huge area of the booth in Vegas was Jeopardy! which was housed on the large-format Megatower Universal cabinet.

Te booth included a mini Jeopardy! set, with gameshow hosts ushering guests from the exhibition floor to challenge ‘Jeopardy James.’ James Holzhauer is an American game-show contestant and professional sports gambler. He is

the fourth-highest-earning American game-show contestant of all time and is best known for his 32- game winning streak as champion on the quiz show Jeopardy! from April to June 2019, during which he set multiple single-game records for winnings, including earning over US$2m in prize money.

“Jeopardy! is a fabulous addition to the portfolio, as players instinctively understand how to play and win from the outset,” explained Mr. O'Shaughnessy. “As a game developer, it’s a natural fit to include the puzzles and elements around the game. We’ve iterated upon the gameshow’s Q&A format, giving players the chance to win a progressive or the dollar values. We are very excited to bring to our customers four game-show franchises, with Wheel Of Fortune, Te Price is Right, Jeopardy! and £25,000 Pyramid creating an incredible atmosphere on customer floors.”

Against a backdrop of hundreds of games and machines on the IGT booth, our highlight was the IGT Playsports bank of PlaySports pods that tap into the burgeoning sports betting market in the US. Attendees took part in interactive demonstrations of the ‘50-State-Solution’ that
