IGT
Anthony Baerlocher, IGT Vice President Product Content and Innovation
What are some of the solutions that IGT is looking to implement or has put in place to protect staff and players during COVID? What innovative solutions is IGT taking to ensure that cabinet design is helping provide players with the peace of mind to play?
Helping IGT’s customers protect the safety and well-being of their players and employees continues to be a top priority. Tis philosophy has propelled a number of product enhancements across IGT’s entire portfolio over the last twelve months. Tere are three primary ways IGT is ensuring that our cabinets can help our customers succeed and their players feel comfortable in the post-COVID-19 casino environment.
First, the design of our cabinets across the portfolio allows for immense flexibility when it comes to configurations on a casino floor. In the era of social distancing, we’ve found that many of our customers enjoy pod configurations, so we’ve adjusted our merchandising options and even some of our game content to accommodate that shift. Similarly, we provide the option for operators to include plastic dividers between EGMs if they wish.
IGT worked with our sign vendors to certify these dividers were optimised for cabinet access, and player comfort. Second, we have been experimenting with new technologies that utilise UV lighting and bolt onto our cabinets, as well as those of our competitors. Te key was to develop something that was effective in killing viruses and bacteria, yet is safe to players and casino staff, and does not compromise gameplay in any way. Te third area of innovation involves our IGT ADVANTAGE casino management system. Utilising Bluetooth support, we can enable cashless gaming from the player’s personal mobile devices and reduce the need for cash and TITO ticket handling.
We also offer IGT ADVANTAGE modules that can send alerts to casino floor staff indicating that a play session has ended and notify them that an EGM requires cleaning.

Can you tell us about any other technologies IGT is using for the post-COVID-19 world? How important a role will cashless gaming play going forwards?
Te pandemic has undoubtedly accelerated the demand for and interest in IGT’s cashless gaming technologies such as Resort Wallet and IGTPay. As my colleagues who lead our systems business
often say, the cashless gaming technologies selling environment went from a “push” pre- pandemic, to a “pull” once the pandemic took hold. Fortunately, IGT is very well-positioned with cashless gaming technologies that allow for greater player convenience, reduce cash handling and enhance safety.
We recently secured regulatory approval for Nevada, while IGTPay is enabling cashless gaming with electronic funds transfer throughout Sweden. Although cashless gaming is the most talked-about IGT solution in the context of post-COVID-19 innovations, we have a variety of other solutions that enable our customers to meet the demands and expectations of today’s casino environment.
In terms of hardware, all of our newer cabinets can be Bluetooth-enabled to allow for cashless gaming technologies. Most notably though, our
