G3 INSIGHT - QUIXANT

Innovating to meet the gaming market’s ever evolving needs

Duncan Faithfull and Abhinay Bhagavatula of Quixant explore the importance of innovating products and solutions to meet the evolving needs of the gaming market.

Darwin said: “It is not the strongest of the species which survives; nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Tis quote is often applied to business circumstances, but it has never been more apt than now for the gaming industry.

Over the previous 12 months we have been as uniquely pressurised as an industry, and across the supply chain we have had to adapt like never before in order to survive and prosper.

On top of the obvious financial challenges as a result of the pandemic, the gaming industry supply chain has also had to deal with critical components shortages following increased demand from the consumer electronics sector.

Duncan Faithfull has 30 years of experience in commercial roles, with 10+ years at board level, and has worked across various industries.

AMD’s decision to ‘de-prioritise’ casino gaming added an extra layer of complexity to an already challenging situation, and in the spirit of using famous quotes to illustrate a point, it proved what Winston Churchill said as true: “Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.”

Te last year for Quixant has been about preparing for the future and giving the gaming industry solutions to deliver exceptional gaming experiences to a global consumer audience with a pent-up desire to enjoy the thrill of gaming once again.

Abhinay Bhagavatula Chief Technology Officer, Quixant

Abhinay Bhagavatula is a leader in the gaming technology world, who has 20+ years of product and technology experience.

For all of us in the gaming industry it has been an important time to focus on costs, but in a measured way. Te past has been littered with the corpses of companies who in challenging times focused exclusively on cutting costs in the short term and failed to sufficiently invest in future growth. But investing in the future shouldn’t only mean spending money.

To come out of this challenging business period in good shape it is also crucial to invest the time to review and reflect on current and future

“Quixant has spent a huge amount of time understanding the end markets, and the needs of OEMs to be competitive and have created a range of solutions which combine power maximisation, with cost points which are appropriate. Quixant has listened to its customers and the needs of the market and is delighted to be launching a new range of gaming hardware platforms. Whatever your requirements, Quixant has a solution which can fit your technological and financial needs.”

markets and strategies. For Quixant, having an even deeper understanding of our markets and customers has been a key focus of recent months. Our reflections on the industry and our own business have highlighted several interesting needs:

A focus on reducing fixed costs: Across the industry, we are challenging our fixed costs burden. Outsourcing expensive technology development is increasingly being considered, as are innovative supply chain solutions to reduce duplication of costs. Quixant has been building a range of supply chain solutions to offer options to our customers, which will ensure fixed costs can be minimised; balance sheet impact of stock holding can be removed; and lead time can go from months to minutes.

To maximise power and value: Game developers are looking for solutions which enable creativity without compromise on power or performance; but at a cost which is appropriate to the market they are in.

Quixant has spent a huge amount of time understanding the end markets, and the needs of OEMs to be competitive and have created a range of solutions which combine power maximisation, with cost points which are appropriate. Quixant has listened to its customers and the needs of the market and is delighted to be launching a new range of gaming hardware platforms. Whatever your requirements, Quixant has a solution which can fit your technological and financial needs. Tis innovative new range is showcased on page 140 of this publication.

For standardisation: One size truly does not fit all. Our partners have told us that as they operate in multiple end markets, they need more than one gaming hardware solution, with different price points and different capabilities, with minimal integration effort. When more than one platform is needed to meet the needs of multiple markets and requirements, Quixant’s range allows easy integration of multiple solutions, with support from our dedicated account managers and engineers throughout.
