Year 7 (continued) my science classes because of all the extra knowledge
provided, the practical’s that we would conduct and the theory and statistics that we could investigate to support our hypotheses.
The weeks edged towards the end of Year 7 and inched closer to the beginning of Year 8. Our routines were now natural. We would be prepared for our next chapter.”

“At the very start of the year I was nervous about a new school. As the terms went on I felt more comfortable. I enjoyed the MBU’s because it helped me improve
through the year. I got a core value badge in Term 4. It was an amazing achievement. I loved running the Year 6 fair and I’m excited for Sports Day and M:Fest.
I
am also excited about joining more clubs and the new building to be completed. I also hope I can join the CCF next year.” Corey Hook
“When we first came to this school, we all felt really
nervous because it’s much bigger than our old primary school. But ….. It’s a good school, you will always get involved with something and will never be left out. You can get involved with all sorts of extra curriculum outside of school and teachers that run the clubs make them as fun as possible. Teachers at Matravers School are friendly, supportive and will always hear both sides of the story. It’s a massive change but you can do
it. If we can – you can. When other Year 7’s joined they felt nervous as well about being bullied but we didn’t. When we joined we loved it. You make new friends quickly and nice friends. Being a massive school can get confusing but once you’re used to it, it’s fine. Towards the end of the year you get lots of school trips
organised and they’re really fun, and at the end of term we always have a celebration assembly and people win all sorts and they always create a different theme every time. If you get 10 or more core value points on each one you get a badge and that then means you can then go through the red line in the canteen which is quicker.” Leah Prior

“Year 7 has been a great year. At the start I was insanely nervous but that’s completely normal for a year 7.

I have now met many new people who have helped me settle in. One worry I had was homework but if you write the due date in your planner and do it straight away you will have nothing to worry about ( apart from bringing it in on time! ).
The teachers are really nice, as long as you behave.
There are lots of extra-curricular clubs for you to do, from coding to athletics.
Matravers is the place to be!” Callum Walcroft-Hall
“At the start of the year I was terrified, I was scared I would get lost, my teachers wouldn’t like me etc, etc.
However, after a couple of days I got used to my teachers, all of them were lovely. I found where I needed to go every day. Through this year I have
grown so much. I now do two clubs which are Coding and Harry Potter Club. I also helped out at the year 6 summer fayre. I am performing at M-Fest with three other people soon.
This school has helped me become who I am today.” Kaya Ayling
