Resilient (continued) YEOVILTON TRIP

We were invited to visit RNAS Yeovilton on Wednesday 6th March, we were received at the main gate and provided an insight into military life and how it has developed. Following a time sensitive programme the cadets were able to visit the historic flight museum, the fire station, undertake a PT session and were able to have a Q & A session with the Army Air Corps regimental sergeant major.

“It was a fun day, we partook physical training, we had a look at historical planes in the Yeovilton Hanger. I

thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would like to go again.”

EASTER CAMP

Taking time away from Dartmoor the Contingent attended Easter Camp at Cwrt Y Gollen cadet training camp, Crickhowell, South Wales. The programme for Easter Camp was planned in preparation for Central Camp which will have a heavy fieldcraft theme. The cadets were split up by ability with our senior cadets focussing on advanced infantry skills being able to undertake blank firing under the supervision of Lt Hervey and Sgt Davison who was at hand to support us from Headquarters South West Cadet training team. In addition to the advanced infantry syllabus we had basic syllabus lessons taking place under the supervision of 2Lt Paginton.

We were extremely happy with the progress made by both groups of cadets, including staying out overnight in basher and managing a harbour area. This also marked the first time we were able to conduct a blank firing exercise which demonstrates how developed our training has become for our cadets.

2Lt Paginton organised for the young carers of bath to visit our camp and undertake a range of activities. Our cadets were amazing in providing activities for these young people and it was a pleasure to support our wider community.

Capt E Fairnington

“It was a fun experience for people to learn about our CCF and being partnered with the army air Corps. I feel that this is a good learning opportunity for our cadets to fully understand our establishments.”

TEN TORS PREPARATION AND DOFE WEEKEND 29TH – 31ST MARCH

We visited South Dartmoor in March to offer the cadets the opportunity to participate and complete training in a range of award schemes. We had groups out completing training for Ten Tors and Bronze & Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s, the Cadets really enjoyed this experience and the surprising sunshine that enlightened the moor. All of our teams successfully completed, passing both bronze and silver, providing additional achievement to those individuals.

Our Ten Tors team completed their training routes strongly, creating an exciting sense of anticipation for the challenge. Their performance was consistent and accurate over the course of the weekend which inspired great pride in the staff.
