Year 9 (continued)
Two very big thank yous are needed as we come to the end of Year 9. First of all thank you goes to Miss V Black who has been with the year team since the very first day of our journey at Matravers. She will be leaving 9.5 at the end of the year and moving abroad to teach and going to Vietnam. Miss Young of 9.3, although not leaving the school, will be moving onto another role in terms of a Progress Leader and will be sorely missed by her tutor group. I and the school wish them both good luck in their new roles and adventures!!
100% ATTENDANCE CLUB
Our attendance throughout the year has been fantastic and obviously the more we attend school the better our chances are to succeed. Anyone hitting 95% and over is a obtaining a great achievement however special mentions need to be made for several individuals. ATTENDANCE BREAKFAST
To continue our tremendous attendance throughout the year a small token of our appreciation to pupils and their hard work and diligence was undertaken with a rewards breakfast. A tutor time during am registration was used to allow pupils to indulge and chat over some food and drink. Individuals received hot pastries and cookies and choices of fruit juice to acknowledge their commitment towards school and their education.
Many of the year group took up an opportunity to go on a Football and Netball tour to Spain over the May half term. Although the journey was a long one all involved had a superb time and all year 9’s involved indicated they would attend the trip again instantly as they had such a great time. Visits to the Nou Camp, Water Park and sports coaching as well as competitions were all involved and rounded off with great views from the hotel. I’m very proud of the Year 9’s that not only worked exceptionally hard in a sporting context but also of the individuals that were a credit to the school and conducted themselves fantastically well throughout the trip.
