YEAR 7

YEAR 7 Year 7 have come to the end of their first academic year at Matravers School. They have settled in brilliantly, demonstrating a wide range of skills and talents.

Students jumped at the opportunity to take on the role of School Council reps, being the student voice for their tutor group and sharing the views of their peers at School Council meetings. To become their tutor group representatives, each candidate had to share their manifesto to the year group in assembly, and a vote was taken. A massive thank you to the following students:

7.1 Emily Curran and Dan Fox 7.2 Ruby Yates 7.3 Emily Yao and Dylan Sansom 7.4 Grace Perry and Kai Wilkes 7.5 Louis Star and Sophie Norocott 7.6 Leo Fowler and Elouise Oliver

FUNDRAISING Across the academic year, year 7 have been keen to fundraise to support a range of charities in addition to Charity week. This began with the odd Socks day to fundraise for Downs Syndrome where students raised £116.

This was followed by a Year 7 cupcakes for Alzheimer’s day on the 21st June organised by the School Council reps, were they raised £79.95.

SUMMER FAYRE Year 7 hosted a fantastic summer fayre for the current year 6 students during their transition days at Matravers. The activities included: Splat the rat, Pin the tail, Sponge the pupil, face painting, tug of war, guess what’s in the box, penalty shootout and many more. A huge thank you to the students and tutors for making this happen- I know the Year 6 students really enjoyed themselves.

“At the start of the school year I was worried about the amount of homework I thought I’d be receiving. As it

turns out, you don’t receive too much. During my time at this school I have developed how to schedule when to do my homework. I have taken part in football club and really enjoyed it. I have played matches inside and outside of school and it is always fun.” Jake Steele

“‘Clubs I have been involved in were cooking club from the start of year until December. This year I have helped out with open evening where I helped with teachers telling people about the school. So far for me it has been quite fun.” Oliver Pearce

TUTOR GROUP 7.2 Year 7 - Coming to Matravers

“In Year 6, I was worried about coming into Year 7 because I was going to be surrounded by new people. I was also worried about getting lost while on the way to classes. However, I was also excited because it’s a new place and a lot bigger and there are more places to hang out and explore. Now I’m really happy that I chose Matravers.” Tegan Watts

“When I was near the end of Year 6 I was thinking about how my new school was and how the teenagers would act around me. When I got home I asked my

brother how school was and he said it was great, and he had great friends, which made me happy to come. When the day came for the Induction Days I was really
