Creative (continued) SWING NIGHT


This premier of the Matravers Swing Night was an outstanding success. Mrs. Phillips and Mr. Cooper accompanied the Senior Choir for a fantastic evening of past classics. The hall was lit beautifully Mr. Young and one guest even commented that it matched the atmosphere of professional London Jazz venues! The Swing Night is now a firm fixture in the calendar and we look forward to producing an even bigger and more ambitious evening next year!


SISTER ACT


Sister Act, the highly acclaimed ‘heavenly’ musical, is winging its way to Matravers Theatre in January 2020 and rehearsals are already underway!


In December 2018 We Will Rock You, truly rocked our live audiences, receiving incredible feedback regarding many elements of the show from technical production to large choreographed numbers, spell binding individual performances to the fabulous live band taking centre stage... and so much more! With another huge success behind us, we are incredibly excited to be moving on to another exciting project, of a very different nature.


This year is a turning point in the ‘Musical Family’ with some familiar faces being joined by many new ones, moving our group forward into the next generation. The Musical Team spent many hours in the final week of Term 5 with many incredibly talented students from Years 7-12, who worked incredibly hard at auditions, in a healthy battle for the principle roles. The standard was very exciting for the panel! Sister Act’s plot is based upon the film of the same name; set in 1970s Philadelphia, with an original sound track for this upbeat show of disco and gospel sounds. If you want to see an uplifting show, I cannot recommend Sister Act highly enough.
