Useful Information (continued) Supporting the community

Over the recent years there has been a bigger emphasis on tackling youth crime and exploitation in rural areas. Deeply concerning within in Wiltshire are the reports of knife crime, with incidents making the national press, and a type of grooming via county lines.

County lines exploitation involves gangs from urban areas using grooming tactics to manipulate children to do their bidding. This normally involves the selling/trafficking/distribution of drugs by children aged

10 upwards. The gangs use tactics to give the youths a sense of belonging and often give them gifts to build trust, as aside from the substance related issues there is often a high level of physical and sexual exploitation involved in being part of the gang.

If you have any concerns over illegal activity in your areas or community please don’t hesitate to report

directly to the police by dialing 111 or 999 in an emergency. There is also a referral website for anonymous disclosures to the police www.fearless.org

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns. Students can always speak to a trusted adult within the school.
