Governors Report to Stakeholders 2017-2018 (continued)
(co-Chair at Matravers). Guy is also now a member of both the Wiltshire Governors’ Association and, along with the Headteacher Dr Riding, a member of the Wiltshire Education Standards Board.
Summary. Past reports have highlighted the issues of poor attendance and poor behaviour. The situation in both of these areas has continued to improve this year, with attendance for all Key Stages the best it has ever been. I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all staff, parents and students that have contributed to this success.
The mental health of school children remains a focus of national attention, but insufficient funding to adequately address this remains an issue for all schools. Matravers is playing a leading role in supporting student mental health and wellbeing via the onsite Thrive Hub and through its excellent system of pastoral care and support.
Historically, our students join Matravers with below national average levels of attainment. School leaders and staff continue to work incredibly hard to ensure our students have every opportunity to exceed their expectations and we are all playing our part in seeking
to raise educational standards for all school children in the Westbury area.

SENIOR STUDENT REPORT
The new intake of students into the Sixth Form have been flourishing so far, and the general vibe of the senior years promises success and happiness for us all. The integration of the upper and lower Sixth Form has been smoother than we could have hoped for, as well as several lower year students becoming a part of the senior student team which has been working hard to make sure everyone is happy. Specifically working with the rest of the Sixth Form to create sports teams that can highlight everyone’s talents and interests has been a real focus.
The up and coming events such as guest speakers and Christmas festivities promise a healthy start to 2019 with brilliant results along the way. After the recent set of MBU and course confirmation exams where we saw some strengths and some weaknesses from all, everyone is now putting in the extra work to succeed come June 2019/20.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
