SOCIAL SCIENCES
This term has seen a successful start to the Social Science department.
The Sociology class have successfully completed their first module in Education and there have been some impressive mock exam results from Lily Beckett and Charlotte Winchester. The students in this class endeavour to discuss ideas completely and aim to challenge one another through debate. The class are now starting topic two on the institution of family in society.
The Philosophy and Ethics class have been hard at work this term focused on Philosophy from the Ancient Greeks all the way through to the present day. The students recently produced a research project into religious experiences and whether or not they can be used to prove the existence of God. Lauren Watkins, Jacob Bleackley and Charlotte Winchester have been working hard this term to ensure a secure knowledge of the abstract concepts discussed whilst developing the skills needed to use these effectively in debates and arguments.
Year 12 and Year 13 Psychology classes have seen lots of success this term with some brilliant work coming from Tia Fear in Year 12 and Joe Morse in Year 13. The department still has many copies of the AQA revision guide for sale to support Year 13 students in the revision for their upcoming January mock exams. These are available via Agora. Year 13 students are working to a strict revision schedule and have plenty of resources to support them in the preparation for this.
This year Religious Studies has a lively Year 10 class who are working hard to gain understanding of the foundational beliefs and practices across all forms of Christianity. This class are always willing to enter into a discussion or debate and are never content until they

have a full and complete understanding of the ideas being introduced. Students that have worked especially hard this term are Florrie Parham, Kirsten Lacey and Katie Jones. Keep up the good work!
