TUTEE OF THE WEEK
I feel that it is important to recognise pupils that are exceeding expectations in all spheres of school life so each week tutors nominate a tutee who they feel have gone above and beyond in some way.
Pupils are rewarded with a certificate and a round of applause in assembly! All pupils who have been nominated will also go into the prize draw to win some goodies in our Christmas rewards assembly.
ASSEMBLIES
Each week has a different ‘thought for the week’ which is then the basis for the SMSC work completed during tutor time. To develop pupil’s confidence and public speaking skills each tutor group presents a 10minute assembly on a rotational basis. We have covered many different themes from friendship, internet safety, resilience, alcohol awareness to name just a few!
It is great to see the tutees working together, supporting each other and growing in confidence!
about something I care about ever so much; As where would I be? Where would anyone be with rights?
Afterwards I felt so much better, it was great! It had all worked out and I had managed it! I loved speaking out to everyone! It was an amazing experience!’
Written by Emily Clements 7.4 YOUNG MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR
This is such a prestigious evening and I was amazed to see so many year 7’s taking part.
‘On 18th October I took part in the young musician competition. It was one of the best experiences of my life. When I first stood up in stage I was terrified, and wanted to hide. Adrenaline was rushing through my body and then I began to sing………
It was so much fun! I sang a song called ‘Broken Strings’, but I made it my own. I won the ‘Leos Endeavour award’. I was really proud of myself!
So try something you might be afraid to do, because you might end up loving it!’
Written by Rebecca Slake ‘AWFUL AUNTIE’ YEAR 7 AND 8 TRIP
Year 7 and 8 were lucky enough to go on a joint trip to the Theatre Royal in Bath to watch David Walliams ‘Awful Auntie’. This was the first trip for year 7 and I was really impressed with their behaviour and manners in the theatre- they were a joy to be with.
Alongside the SMSC work pupils spend one tutor time a week developing ‘character’. As part of the Character work pupils had to devise a speech on something they were passionate about. Tutors then selected two pupils from their tutor group to deliver these speeches in assembly:
‘Originally I started writing my speech about music, but then I realised it didn’t have much to offer speech wise, so I thought about my passion about peoples rights to vote. So I decided to write mine about human rights.
When I came to the front I was extremely nervous as this was the first time I had spoken in front of so many people! Yet as I spoke I felt my voice get louder- stronger even! As I felt more comfortable speaking
