Year 7 (continued) ALL SAINTS CHRISTMAS TREE

COMPETITION We took part in the annual All Saints Church Christmas Tree competition. Each tutor group were given a different design of bauble; stain glass effect, wooden shapes, snowman etc. Pupils then had a week to decorate them. Each tutor group then decided on two baubles they thought were the best- these pupils then came to the church to decorate the Matravers tree!

Members of the public were able to go into the church and vote for their favourite tree. Unfortunately we did not win, but the pupils had a lovely time decorating our tree and looking around at all the other entries. We then collected the tree and it is up in reception for all our pupils and visitors to see!

Last week, I and a few other students were selected to decorate the Matravers Christmas tree in the All Saints Church in the town centre. Our tree was decorated in golden fairy lights, illuminating our decorations in a warm, welcome glow. Each decoration was made by year 7’s; from rainbow wooden trees to a large bauble, which had a girl drawn in an adorable style on it. They all exerted two messages: That every Matravers student has an artistic flair; an that Christmas spirit is depicted in different ways, to different people. This experience was something I will remember forever.

This year during Charity week, there were many fun activities that I participated in. Some of the activities that I participated in were: Splat-The-Rat, gunge the teacher, year 7’s got and the cake sale. The events were all really exciting; especially year 7’s got talent (everyone was super talented).

There was also a ‘wear the wrong tie’ day. It was

basically a day, where year 7s, could come in wearing a different tie that wasn’t the school tie. You had to donate £1 to participate.

Another event was a non-school uniform day, based on the school production ‘Schools will rock you’. The theme was a rock and roll style, but if you just wanted to go normal non-school uniform, you were very welcome to. To come in for non-school uniform, you needed to have donated some money.

All of the funds and money we raised were all given to C.L.I.C sergeant- a children’s hospital. It was decided in an assembly we had where the majority of the year 7s wanted to support C.L.I.C.

All in all, the charity week was super fun and successful.

YEAR 7 CHARITY WEEK

Each year group decide a charity for the year and year 7 chose Clic Sargent. All the money that we raise through our charity events throughout the year will go to this cause.

Year 7 had their charity week where each tutor group held a fundraising event. We had a cake sale, splat the rat, looney tunes, wrong tie day and gunge the teacher: You can imagine which one was the most popular!!

During this week we managed to raise £232 which is fantastic. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you as we would not have been able to do this without your support.
