Year 7 (continued)

‘I like this play. It’s about a girl called Stella who is trying to find out why her parents died. Meanwhile her Auntie wants to get her malicious, dirty, horrible hands on the inheritance for Saxby Hall (the house). The story comes from how her Awful Auntie tortures her in many different ways. Some funny, some horrible, some mean and some weird. The ending was amazing (but no spoilers!). I liked it because it was funny, made me laugh out loud so that my cheeks hurt but also sad in places, engaging and had great actors. The actors engaged with the audience by making them feel like they were in the play themselves. I think that the best actor was the person who was playing the auntie because he (yes it was a man!) was the classic pantomime baddy. Also he made the audience feel like he was actually treating Stella badly rather than just acting. As well as this he was just an all round great actor because he didn’t just put on a costume and say lines he really brought Walliams character to life in the play. He also inspired me to play a baddy one day.

I would recommend this play to anybody any age who wants a good laugh because it was really enjoyable to watch.’

I was amazed to see so many year 7’s sign up for the annual Year 7’s Got Talent. It was great to see such a diverse number of talents. It was extremely hard being a judge and having to give the pupils a score after their performance. I wanted to give them all a 10 for performing and over coming so many nerves!

Year 7’s Got Talent was a great success as all the acts performed perfectly.

The judges: Miss Reeves, Miss Drewitt and Mr Clark gave all the contestants a score which would determine who would win 3rdm 2nd and 1st place.

3rd went to Sophie playing the violin

2nd Place went to Georgia, Aleesha, Ella, Ruby and Rebecca for singing and dancing 1st place went to Emy for her comedy act.

I would really recommend

doing Year 7’s Got Talent as it is an opportunity to show friends and teachers what your hidden talents are. It also helps with boosting your confidence.

I wish they did a ‘Got Talent’ event for each year group! Written by Charlotte Cruse 7.4

On Friday 16th November it was Matravers Year 7’s Got Talent. This was really exciting for us, we had only been at the school since September and there was already

an event for us to take part in! Lots of year 7’s took part and there was a good audience. The audience had to make a donation of £1 to watch, and the performers also had to pay £1 to take part. The money raised was donated to the charity Clic Sargent, which is a charity that helps children with cancer. There were lots of acts such as comedy, bands and dancing as well as many more. The acts were really exciting and the audience

really enjoyed watching them. Although we were all a bit nervous at the start we all became more confident as we got into our acts. The judges were Miss Reeves, Miss Drewitt and Mr Clark. They each had a card for writing their scores on. Emy Yao was the winner of the event with her really funny comedy act which everybody enjoyed. Overall the whole event was very enjoyable and it was great just to go in and have a fun time.

Year 7’s Got Talent was a great hit, there were lots of different acts from comedy to singing. All the acts were very good, but the winner was Emy Yao who

performed a comedy act. The judging panel was made up of 3 teachers; Miss Reeves, Mr Clark and Miss

Drewitt. It was a great night and there was plenty of cake! There were 9 acts in total thus consisting of 3 singers, 2 comedy acts, 1 dancer and 2 pupils played instruments. There was one group that went all out with 1 dance, 2 singers, 1 guitarist and 1 pianist.

I took part in the talent show with my friends as a comedy act and this was one of the best days of my life.
