DANCE DANCE BEYOND MATRAVERS

Dance A level Alumni Dylan Jones has made his school incredibly proud by being the face of Youth Dance classes at Rambert Dance Company. After travelling to London to learn from one of Britain’s most influential contemporary company, he is continuing his training with the Swindon CAT Dance programme. His most recent performance was the result of working with Luke Brown Dance Company in a high energy and impactful performance.

‘MATRAV-BOTS’ - BOYS DANCE

WORKSHOP This term, Matravers Dance hosted 40 Primary school boys in our annual dance workshop. After another year of being fully subscribed, the workshop aims to engage boys in dance from a young age whilst demonstrating all that is on offer for boys who dance at Matravers. Our outstanding Endurance Dance Company boys supported Miss Richards in delivering the workshop and demonstrated their excellence in choreography and performance, but also their understanding and support of younger talent. Boys arrived to Matravers and became dancing robots! After taking over the world, the boys performed to our Primary guests beautifully.

AMY FOSKETT

DANCE COMPANY Another exciting

opportunity to work with

Alumni choreographer Amy Foskett occurred in October 11th for 11 GCSE year 10 and 11 dancers. Amy is an ex-Matravers student who is a London based contemporary choreographer who trained at Laban. Amy worked with our students on Open Evening and created a piece to be performed alongside her own Company at Trowbridge Arts Centre. Matravers dancers opened the show with their excellent performance. All students did the school so proud with their focus, commitment and mature performances.

42ND STREET MUSICAL MAGIC

On Thursday 22nd November, Matravers Dance took a group of 27 students to Bath to visit the Theatre Royal Bath to see 42nd Street. This amazing trip offered students a back stage tour of the theatre and the privileged opportunity to dance numbers from the show on stage. Mrs Henderson has been working tirelessly to teach numbers at lunchtime whilst also preparing outside of school to be in the show herself. It was a fantastic evening which students loved being involved with and felt a part of the show.
