Year 11 (continued)
group is one of the best parts of my job. In addition to the usual rewards given out we’ll be taking a group of 50 students to Cribbs Causeway for a spot of shopping. This, with our celebration breakfasts and tutor group pizza competition is our way of showing the students that working hard really does pay off, even in small ways.
A discussion about Year 11 is never too far from what it’s all about, which is Post-16 education and their next steps. 6th Form open evening was very well attended and it was great to have conversations with students about their next steps. The deadline for 6th Form applications is 21st December. Even if your child is considering other pathways it is essential to keep their options open and so as many students as possible have been encouraged to apply. We do discuss other choices with them and my door is always open for advice as is Mr Browning’s (Head of 6th). It is very strange indeed to think that the young people whom I have watched grow into young adults over the past 4 ½ years will no
longer be my responsibility in six months’ time. It has been a privilege to be there with them up to now and it will be wonderful to watch them take that next step.
