PE YEAR 7 NETBALL
We have had a fantastic turn out for Netball club on Tuesdays, with well over 30 pupils each week. Year 7 have been eager to learn from the older students and really enjoy playing with and against them. Year 7 matches will not start until January, but to keep them motivated we entered them in a local tournament to give them experience.
The Year 7 team battled through the horrible weather and worked incredibly well as a team. It was great to see them listening to feedback after each match and then putting different tactics and skills into use. I was very proud of the girls and I am looking forward to all our matches in the new year!
On Saturday 24th November the Year 7 Netball team set off to Devizes school to participate in a Netball
tournament. It was a really early start, we had to leave school at 8:15! As a new team we were still getting to know each other but we were all excited for the games. Although we didn’t win any matches we all worked
really hard and played well in the cold, wet and windy weather.
We are all enjoying and trying hard at Netball club
(Tuesdays 3-4pm), and are looking forward to our next matches and tournament.

In training, the girls have continued to develop a number of technical aspects of netball, as well as enhancing their personal skills and techniques. Their increase in ability, combined with their relentless hard work paid off in numerous matches this season, with the B team beating St Laurence B, Kingdown B and Clarendon B. The A team faced some very challenging matches at the start of the season, narrowly losing to Kingdown A and St Augustines. Despite this, the girls were as resilient as ever and managed to win against Frome, St Laurence A and draw against Clarendon A. The win against Frome was made even more rewarding considering the girls played against Frome Year 10’s!
Unfortunately, the tournament was scheduled to take place on 27th November but due to adverse weather conditions it has been cancelled. We hope that it will be arranged for some time soon.
Much like the previous 2 years, I have loved being the Year 9 netball coach this season. It has been wonderful to watch you all make so much progress and I hope you all continue playing netball next season!

Year 9 made a really positive and encouraging start to their netball season this year, with over 30 girls from across the year regularly attending. It was fantastic to see so many regular faces as well as plenty of new ones. As always, the girls have continued to demonstrate outstanding commitment and motivation towards netball. Due to the frequent large numbers at training, Year 9 have been fortunate enough this year to field two netball teams. It was a great opportunity to mix the more experienced players with those just starting out.
