Eye-hand co-ordination This involves accuracy in placement, direction, and spatial awareness.
• Throw beanbags into a hula hoop placed flat on the floor. Gradually increase the distance. • Play throw and catch with a ball. Start with a large ball and work toward a smaller ball. • Practise hitting bowling pins with a ball – make your own by using plastic bottles and a small ball.
• Play “Hit the balloon” with a medium-sized balloon.
3.5.2 Eye foot co-ordination and small muscle movements Exercises: • Walk on a rope – forwards, backwards, with small steps, with big steps; on tiptoe.
• Obstacle course – walk over obstacles – a school bag; a box; a dustbin. • Hopscotch. • Help-me-catch or stomp and catch: it looks like a miniature see-saw. The child places the beanbag on the one end and then steps on the other end. The bag goes up in the air and the child must catch it.
• Jump over the ball that is rolled in your direction. • Dribble a ball, kick a ball. • Push the beanbag with your foot.

Perceptual abilities What senses do we have? We see with our eyes, hear with our ears, smell with our nose, touch with our skin and taste with our tongue and taste buds.
DEFINITION
Perception is the meaning that the brain gives from the facts that are sent to it through the senses. The brain therefore interprets the information that is received through the senses.
Perception is one of the most important criteria for successful learning. The child, for example, looks at a table, but his brain tells him that it is a table. So will our ears hear a bell ringing, but it is the brain that tells you what you are hearing. Perceptual problems can slow down the school readiness process.
It is through these sensory experiences that we interact with and interpret the world.
3.6.1 Visual perception During the day, the child’s awareness of visual perception can be expanded. Ask questions about the topic to make the child aware of facts:

Visual perception is the ability of the brain to make contact through the eyes with the outside world. (The eyes look, but the brain see.)
