Activity


Which limbs do we use for touching objects? Objective: To identify sensations of touch in various parts of our bodies


Let the children sit on chairs. Ask them to shut their eyes and say in which part of their bodies they feel the chair, the seat, the back of the chair. Possible questions:


Is it only with our hands that we can feel the object? In which part of our bodies do we feel the floor? In which part of your body do you feel heat? The wind?

Sensing and knowing • Cooking is an important part of the child’s learning experience. • Cooking is affected by season, the climate, the seasonal plants and social occasions, e.g. holiday, celebrations, birthdays, Christmas and Easter.


• The activities of cooking provide opportunities for the development of the motor skills, development of the senses and experiencing new sensations, acquiring information and concepts, development of the vocabulary and linguistic skills, and acquiring work habits.


• Make use of every possible opportunity to cook and bake: in each situation, the child’s attention should be directed to what he is doing, to the senses he uses, to the impressions that he receives through them, his reaction to the activity of cooking, the way dishes look, their smell, their taste, and experiencing new and unfamiliar food.


Objective: Why do we teach this topic?


1. Revision of the activities related to sensory perception. 2. Recognition of the mutual dependence of the senses. 3. Identification of objects by multisensory use. 4. Describing objects by the information received from different senses.


Skills: What skills are learnt?


1. Using the senses. 2. Distinguishing the different kinds of information received from different senses. 3. Checking the information received from one sense by verification with other.


Language: What language is learnt?


Positive and negative statements. Interrogative sentences. Clauses of cause. Clauses of condition.
