NEW COURSE Level 2 Diploma in Sports Studies: VTCT (QCF) Do you want to progress into a sport-related career? This one year course is designed to reflect both practical and theoretical aspects of sport and covers core topic areas including: anatomy and physiology, performance psychology, planning and leading activities and business skills. You can also select a number of optional units from: fitness testing and training, effects of exercise on the body systems, nutrition for sports performance, managing a sports career, sports injuries, sport and leisure facility operations, technical skills and tactical awareness and planning and running a sports event. You will also have the opportunity to work with local organisations that provide sporting opportunities.
Entry requirements: BTEC Level 1 or 2 First Award, Certificate or Extended Certificate in Sport or 4 GCSEs grades D-G (one of which should be English). A DBS check is required.
Possible next steps: If successful, you can progress to the BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport (Elite basketball course in partnership with London Lions), or the BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence).
Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: Four days per week
NEW COURSE BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport: Elite Basketball Development Course in Partnership with London Lions A limited number of adults aged 19-21 will be accepted onto this course.
You will benefit from an elite standard of professional basketball coaching, and competition involvement delivered by professional London basketball team, the London Lions.
The BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma Sport Course is a one year course, ideal if you want to progress into a sport-related career or progress into Higher Education. The course is designed to reflect both practical and theoretical aspects of sport across a range of disciplines.
Modules covered include the principles of anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and training, sports nutrition, sports coaching and analysis of sports performance, technical skills and tactical awareness, practical team sports, assessing risk in sport.
Learners on this course will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside The London Lions. Opportunities include access to matches, stewarding, volunteering and many more.
Entry requirements: BTEC Level 2 Diploma (merit) or 4 GCSEs at grades A-C (one of which should be English), college assessment, trial and interview. A DBS check is required.
You will have the opportunity to join our flourishing sports enrichment programme including our national league Basketball Academy and other sports academies and teams.
Possible next steps: If successful, you can progress on to university undergraduate courses, foundation degree courses, or into employment in sport and recreation.
Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: Four days per week.
A Diploma in Sport without the basketball development programme is also available.
