CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children: QCF (ESOL) This course is suitable for adults who have English as a second language (ESOL) and would like to develop a career in working with children. You will undertake a mixture of practical activities and class-based tasks. Subjects will include areas of development for young children and health and safety in the home. You will also be learning through everyday experiences. Maths and ESOL lessons are an important part of the course. You will also have the opportunity to access a work placement.
Entry requirements: ESOL Entry 3/level 1 and maths Entry 3/level 1. You will undertake a written assessment and an interview and you will need to provide a satisfactory reference.
Possible next steps: Level 2 Childcare course. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 15
CACHE Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People: QCF This course is suitable for people who speak English as a second language (ESOL) and would like to undertake a qualification which will give them the basic understanding of working with children in a childcare environment. The qualification is designed to help you make an informed decision about working with children and young people.
As part of the course, you will study safeguarding, child development and respecting and valuing children. You will be expected to achieve a total of 16 credits in order to complete the course.
Entry requirements: Level 1 maths and English qualification or equivalent. You will undertake a written assessment and an interview and provide a satisfactory reference.
Possible next steps: CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (QCF) – or depending on your ability and your level of maths and English, you may be able to progress onto the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator).
