For courses in this guide on page 26 onwards, you may pay no tuition fee if:
You are aged 19 or older, for a course up to and including Level 2, if: You are a Home Student, and:
You are unemployed or you want to progress in work and you are claiming JSA, Work-Related ESA or Universal Credit because you are unemployed.
You are unemployed, receiving state benefits not listed above and you believe the skills and training from your course will help you to enter employment.
You are studying English or maths up to and including Level 2, (except ESOL unless your circumstances are covered in the points above).
You are aged 19-23 on the day you start your course if: You meet the criteria in the section above for 19+ students, or,
You are a Home Student, and
You don’t already have a full Level 2 qualification (NVQ Level 2, 5 GCSEs at A*-C or equivalent) and you need an entry or Level 1 qualification to step up to level 2.
You are studying your first full Level 2 qualification. You are studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
You are studying your first Level 4 or above qualification (not HE) without having achieved a Level 3.
If you do need to pay a fee: There are a number of ways to pay. You may also be able to get help with your fees.
If there is a fee, most students pay their full fee when they enrol.
Don’t worry, if you are unable to do this, we can help you with costs by arranging for you to pay in instalments in many cases.
We have a limited Learner Support Fund and can also give advice on external funds and bursaries to support our learners with costs related to studying.
Some students’ fees are paid by their employer or another sponsor. In these cases you will need a letter from them.

If you are an international student please contact us for the international student application process and costs.
If you’re aged 24+ and studying at Level 3 or above, or aged 19-23 and you’ve already got a Level 3 qualification: You will need to pay a fee but you could take out an Advanced Learner Loan. You won’t need to start paying it back until you’re earning £21,000 per year. Bursaries are also available to help some students with costs related to studying.
