BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma This is an 18 unit course, equivalent to three A Levels.
ABC Diplomas ABC diplomas are recognised by industry and universities, and give you specialist and transferable skills, engaging you with current industry practice to prepare you for further qualifications or work.
City & Guilds Diplomas City & Guilds qualifications are designed to be undertaken in the workplace or in the classroom or as a combination of the two.
Apprenticeships Apprenticeships combine study with employment and can be taken at Level 2, 3 or 4. As an employee, you’ll earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Your qualification can be delivered in the workplace, on block release or 1 day a week at College. Access to Higher Education Equivalent to three A Levels, these one-year courses prepare you for a Higher Education course.
NVQ NVQs award you for your competence for a particular job. They are nationally recognised work-related qualifications which are available to anyone at any age or stage of their career. Flexible and accessible NVQs can be tailored to your particular role allowing you to gain recognition for your existing skills while giving you the opportunity to gain a broader range of expertise. How well you do the job is what counts, more than general academic ability. NVQs are available at five levels:
Ÿ NVQ 1 is equivalent to three or four GCSEs at grades D–G
Ÿ NVQ 2 is equivalent to four or five GCSEs at grades A–C
Ÿ NVQ 3 is equivalent to two A Levels
Ÿ NVQ 4 is equivalent to a Certificate of Higher Education/BTECs
Ÿ NVQ 5 is equivalent to a Diploma of Higher Education or Foundation Degree
Foundation Degrees Foundation Degrees are vocationally orientated qualifications which have a large employer input and give you access to a wide choice of career paths. They provide a good pathway onto a degree course.
