Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance City & Guilds You will learn about motor vehicle technology, computer studies, workshop theory and practice. As well as the main motor vehicle subjects, you will also be required to take Functional Skills in maths and English at Level 1 – these subjects MUST be passed for you to progress to a Level 2 course.


Entry requirements: You will need a satisfactory secondary education. Selection is by College interview and assessment. Ideally you should have completed a Motor Vehicle and Road Users course at school. An interest in working with your hands would be beneficial.


Possible next steps: Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles.


Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: TBC


Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles City & Guilds (0050-15) This course covers the underpinning knowledge in more depth than the Level 1 course and develops your skills at maintenance and repair on various vehicle types. The course also requires you to take Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT at Level 2.


Entry requirements: Pass in IMI Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance or City & Guilds Level 1, with interview and College assessment.


Possible next steps: Level 3 IMI Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles or employment.
