Counselling
Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills: Level 2 If you’re interested in counselling, this 10-week course is the best place to start. You develop a basic understanding of how to use counselling skills to help others and learn about your own and others’ emotional lives. Counselling skills are transferable to a wide range of voluntary and paid jobs in the health, education, social care, justice and other sectors.
Entry requirements: You must be at least 21 years old. There is a written application.
Possible next steps: Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Length of course (weeks): 10 Hours per week: 3
Certificate in Counselling Skills: Level 2 On this 90-hour course, you learn about effective listening and deepen your understanding of yourself and others. You can study this for:
(a) 3 hours a week for 1 year (September to June) or
(b) 1 day a week for one and a half terms (September to February).
If you want to progress straight to the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, option (b) is the best because the Level 3 course starts in February.
Entry requirements: You must be at least 21 years old and complete a written application.
Possible next steps: Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies and/or employment as a skilled helper.
