020 7613 9123 www.hackney.ac.uk Getting on the right course

We’re here to help you choose the right course. Our Customer Services team can tell you about all the courses at the College. Friendly staff will give you initial advice and guidance on the courses we offer that are suitable for you. You can also ask about finances, nursery provision or entry requirements and other aspects of the College. They will refer you to specialist advisers if necessary.

To get a place on the course you want, you need to apply as soon as possible. But don’t worry; you’re not committed at this stage – you can change your mind about your course later on.

The following steps are for all courses in this guide with the exception of our “courses for fun and recreation” which are shown on pages 15-23. For information on how to enrol on those courses, have a look at page 15.

Come to our main reception area on Falkirk Street and we’ll take it from there!

The course information line is 020 7613 9123 and it’s open:

Monday-Thursday: 9am-5pm Friday: 9am-2pm

If you’d like to speak to someone in person, we are open during term time:

10 Hackney Community College Adult Course Guide 2016/2017

All courses are subject to change and may be cancelled without prior notice as a result of funding changes or low demand. You may be eligible for a discounted tuition fee on some courses, but you will need to check with us. Students who pay a tuition fee may also pay an exam fee if applicable. This is just a guide to the courses we offer; check www.hackney.ac.uk or 020 7613 9123 for up-to-date information.

Step 3

If you are offered a place, you will be invited into College to complete your enrolment and get your ID card.

If you are applying during our busy enrolment period, (August/ September) we advise you to come straight to campus to secure your place. See www.hackney.ac.uk for enrolment times.

Step 1

Once you’ve decided which course you’d like to study, apply online at www.hackney.ac.uk or call 020 7613 9123 and we’ll go through your application with you.

Step 2

We’ll invite you to an interview and/or assessment. It’s a great time to talk to the tutor to make sure it’s the right course for you. You may need to do an online or written initial assessment. Don’t worry! It’s just to get an idea of the level you’re at so we can make sure you join the right course.
