Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations: Buildings and Structures: C&G 2365-02 (Part-time day and part-time evening options) Get technical knowledge and achieve a recognised trade qualification to enable you to work in the electrical industry. The course covers practical installation work, IEE regulations and electrical science and technology. You will learn through a combination of classroom-based subjects and workshop sessions. You will be assessed by observation, a portfolio of evidence, practical assignments and an end-of-year on line computer based examination.
Entry requirements: Internal assessment and interview and Level 2 equivalent (GCSEs grade A-C) in maths, English and a science subject.
Possible next steps: City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures), or employment in the trade.
Length of course: 1 year, or the course may also be offered as a 1-day or 2-evening a week 2-year course subject to demand.
Hours per week: The course is run over two days per week.
Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations: Buildings and Structures: C&G 2365-03 (Part-time day and part-time evening options) Get technical knowledge and achieve a higher-level recognised trade qualification for in the electrical industry. The course covers practical installation work, IEE regulations and electrical science and technology. You will learn through a combination of classroom- based subjects and workshop sessions. You will be assessed through on-line examinations and paper-based assignments. Your practical work will also be assessed through a number of tasks.
Entry requirements: Level 2 Diploma or extensive suitable trade experience. College interview and assessment, and level 2 equivalent in maths, English and science. You must be age 24+, and either fund the course fully yourself or take out an Advanced Learning Loan, see page 14.
Possible next steps: Employment in the trade and possible progression to the City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installations.
Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: One day per week.
