I decided make some more modifications to the moulded plastic Porsche Gear Lever Housing so I trimmed away everything that wasn't part of the lever movement mechanism and made a new housing for the trimmed-down core moulding from 3mm aluminium sheet. My mate (and P4 chassis welding veteran), Ray, TiG welded it up. Here it is with the original housing secured inside with Cleko's.
IThe picture below shows an aftermarket conversion kit for replacing the standard plastic bearing housings for anodised aluminium ones. The theory is that the mod will reduce play in the linkage and make the lever action more positive and tight.
So, I copied the idea and made my own.
