moment, whether clients are having dinner and drinks, or watching the entertainment in one of the multiple performance spaces. The atmosphere is different from that of a standard club, requiring some bespoke thought and focused application. Adult entertainment is primarily a visual experience, and one in which the gender roles are clearly defined. Apart from wanting to use a quality lighting brand, which could be delivered on time, and to the substantial but not bottomless budget, David chose Anolis because of reliability. He has used it very successfully on previous high profile projects and really likes the range. “I needed a brand with the choice of a wide and dynamic variety of sources, so I could light everything from a single bottle to a complete room,” said David. Adding that it was also important to have top quality fixtures in a tough working environment that is operating most hours of the day, seven days a week. Anolis fixtures are used for a number of tasks, from effect lighting in the bars and numerous other spaces, to practical lighting around the reception and work areas. Even the iced bar top ‘drink rink’ is illuminated. David continued: “The superior colours and richness of the Anolis light sources are perfect for the job.” The homogenised light engine, using the latest cutting edge LEDs and innovative optics also give exceptionally smooth dimming and colour changing, and a fabulous range of pastels as well as opulent, rich saturates. These benefits are underlined by the power saving and low ongoing maintenance

costs associated with a large LED installation. The commissioning and installation of the lighting was undertaken by Sound Stage Systems from Connecticut - headed by Karl Kieslich - working closely with David and his team. The teams have collaborated many times in the past, and enjoy a great working rapport. They also consulted closely with The Penthouse Club’s Technical Director, Richard Storch, whose previous experience in stage productions brought another dimension to the equation. He was involved in supervising the building construction, which helped to ensure that the infrastructure necessary for a large lighting installation was in place. At night, the club stands out like a beacon on the landscape. The driveway is tastefully lit with 54 Anolis ArcSource 1 blue fixtures with 10° lenses, and there is an imposing ‘four elements’ statue on the front lawn, highlighted with four powerful Robe CitySkape 48 RGBW LED fixtures. A canopy that covers the front entrance is supported by four imposing stainless steel columns, and the whole structure shimmers, lit with Anolis ArcLine outdoor optics. A large glass black wall, which surrounds the entrance, is backlit with Anolis ArcLink 3 RGBs. The entry portal is down-lit with Anolis ArcSource 1’s, and the lobby rotunda features a striking motorised stainless steel signature sculpture, which is accented with Anolis ArcSource 7 RGBWs. The white mosaic tiles on the surrounding lobby walls are coloured with Anolis ArcLink Optic 4 RGBAs.
