an international level. The company hopes to tackle the local markets first, including China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, developing and promoting the products and the brands along the way. Another partnership was SAE and Verity Audio. The two companies have been working together for about a year. SAE distributes slightly modified versions of Ver- ity Audio loudspeakers in China, which allows it, to provide a fuller sound solution. Verity Audio offers the same combination of products. SAE has also just started to manufacture LED panels, which were also on display at the show. Soundking Sales Manager, Jakey Yang said: “We are very confident with the in- dustry in China as the Chinese Government’s 12th five-year plan actively promotes cultural development in China and this is creating rich business opportunities for us.” Soundking was located within the Music China halls, and showcased products from Carlsbro and Studiomaster, two UK brands that Soungking has acquired (as well as Cadac) in the last three years. International Sales Representative for American DJ, Chuck Green was pleased with the visitor response to the company’s light systems and DJ controllers. He said: “This show helps me to learn more about the Chinese market and makes me recognise the importance of brand building here.” Superlux released a brand-new monitoring headphone, the HD661, which is ideal for live sound monitoring applications thanks to its excellent mid-range and vocal reproduction and rich spatial detail. Special editions of the HD661 were on display at the Superlux booth.

Behringer reported positive response to the show. Senior Manager and Customer Support in Greater China for Music Group, Lily Xiao said: “Prolight + Sound Shang- hai is an important tradeshow in eastern China. We have received a lot of enquiries from our existing customers and potential customers from China, Australia and Europe.” Showing its continued support, TW Audio exhibited at PL+S for the third time this year. Managing Director, Bernhard Wüstner, said: “The outdoor presentation is a good opportunity for visitors to compare different brands. “I am also able to meet distributors from China and around the world through Concert Sound Arena.” Loud introduced the Chinese versions of its Ampeg GVT guitar amps at PL+S, as well as showcasing the HDA line array and the Onyx mixers from Mackie. A number of educational seminars also took place during the show; key topics included pro audio development, music technology development and product pre- sentations from Duran Audio, Klippel, Mackie and msm-studios. With the Asian market showing no real signs of slowing down anytime soon, it could be argued that a show of this size in China is well worth a visit. Many exhibi- tors agreed that PL+S Shanghai has come a long way over recent years, but I still believe there is a lot of potential for it to grow even further. Next year the show will run Thursday to Sunday, instead of this year’s Tuesday to Friday, but the dates remain the same. Prolight + Sound Shanghai returns to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) on 11-14 October 2012.
