This year’s show saw the public launch of the Association of Sound Designers. For the past 18 months, a group of sound designers have been holding meetings to discuss what the association should do and how it should work before creating the professional association. Interest in the association has grown rapidly, with the website receiving over 4,500 hits and the mailing list growing to over 150 subscrib- ers in six months. AVID announced the release of the EuControl Software Package Version 2.6.1 for its Artist Series of high-quality control surfaces, MC Pro and System 5-MC con- trollers. EuControl 2.6.1 offers full compatibility with Apple’s new Lion OS, as well as several performance improvements, including firmware fixes for Artist Series fader slam and jitter issues. Aviom showcased the AllFrame Multi-Modular I/O System and Pro16 and 64 series Digital Snakes. tions and touring applications. Avolites Media announced the formation of a strategic alliance with Immersive Ltd. The company is now sole manufacturer of a suite of products under the brand name Ai. Immersive Ltd and a re-seller of the Ai system. The Ai media server, which will be released through the existing Avolites international distribution net- work, was also showcased in the UK for the first time at PLASA. On the beyerdynamic stand, the company showcased its Touring Gear live perfor- mance mics, the new Synexis wireless RF multi-channel system and the new DT 1350 headphones, which are distributed exclusively in the UK by Polar Audio. BSS introduced the Soundweb London BLU-8v2 Wall Controller as an updated replacement for the original BLU-8. Available in white or black, the controller of- fers Ethernet connectivity, multiple modes of operation, simple control and visual feedback. Cadac showcased its new digital live production console, the CDC Eight. Specified for high-end touring and fixed installation applications, the console includes a high agility user interface, accessed via two 24-inch high definition LCD touch screens. Chauvet announced the release of Q-Wash 260-LED, COLORado Zoom Tour LED-powered washlight and AmHaze to the European market. The Q-Wash 260- LED is an economical fixture, while the AmHaze is a water-based haze machine well-suited to large-scale applications.
