ZHONGYUAN FU TOWER

Company: FBT Location: Zhengzhou, China

Zhongyuan Fu Tower is situated in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan in China. The tower occupies 141 hectares with a construction area of 58,000 sq metres and took a total investment of 836 million yuan. The height of the tower is 388 metres and is one of the tallest steel towers in the world. It is also considered to be a landmark of the province, with integrated functions for TV signal transmis- sion tower, tourist attractions, as well as educational and cultural centres. The gallery - Splendid Central Plains - located on the third and fourth floors of the tower has been recognised in the Guinness World Records as the largest pano- ramic painting in the world. This mammoth artwork is 18 metres high, 164 metres long, 3012 sq metres large, with a surface modeling area of 2,200 sq metres. Although the gallery focuses on the visual effect of the panoramic painting, the requirement for quality in the sound system was never compromised. The manage- ment believes that the audio-visual effect can only be achieved with high quality audio. Therefore, they sent specialists to similar installations in other parts of the world to study what sound system should be used. Following a research period, a few top American and European brands were chosen for second-round evaluation under the simulated environment of the gallery. Eventually, FBT Verve series speakers were chosen for the project. The manage- ment of the gallery and most experts agreed that: “Verve offered outstanding performance at competitive prices. When the sound level was properly set, Verve presented high clarity for speech and amazing presence and excellent transparen- cy at high frequency for music. The mid-range presentation was sweet and natural. Singers’ voices and musical instruments could be reproduced with high degree of realism. The bass presentation was strong enough and with clear definition; strong punch from drums could be reproduced perfectly impressing the audience,” said a representative. The sound system used in the gallery of the panoramic painting comprises the fol- lowing: 26 FBT Verve 152 2-way speakers, six FBT PSR 118S 18-inch sub-woof- ers, two FBT Verve 8M monitor speaker, six FBT Symbol 12000 and two FBT Symbol 18000 amplifiers, and four FBT DLM26 speaker management processors. www.fbt.it / www.voci-dorate.com
